The number you see first is usually tuition, but that is not the number you actually pay. For New Zealand, the hidden part is the one-off spending that lands before you even start class: the Student visa application at ₹45,000 (NZD $850), the Post Study Work Visa at from ₹89,000 (from NZD $1,670), Medical and X-ray at ₹6,000 – ₹10,000, and Health and travel insurance at ₹32,000 – ₹48,000 / year (NZD $600 – $900 / year). Insurance is compulsory, and it is checked at visa stage, not on arrival.

The other thing families miss is that New Zealand wants proof you can actually cover the year. The visa requirement is ₹11L per year, or ₹88,000 per month for shorter courses, plus tuition and return airfare. That is separate from what you will spend after you land. If your budget is tight, this is the first checkpoint, not the last.
