If you are aiming at engineering colleges in Karnataka, the fastest way to avoid wasted prep is to separate the state into two routes: KCET and COMEDK UGET. KCET is the Karnataka state exam for state quota seats in government and private colleges. COMEDK UGET is the private-college consortium exam for its seats.
That split matters because the same state can send you to very different fee levels. A government or KCET-quota engineering seat is listed at ₹1L – ₹1.8L / yr for tuition, while a COMEDK/private engineering seat is listed at ₹2L – ₹5L / yr, varying by college tier. If you only prepare for one route, you may cut off a large part of your options.
