If you are studying in Canada on a study permit, you can work up to 24 hours per week off campus during term, and full time during scheduled breaks. If your job is a co-op or internship that is part of your programme, you need a separate co-op work permit.
That is the rule to keep in your head. The mistake students make is treating part-time work as a flexible side income. In Canada, the limit is not a suggestion. If you go over it, you can create a serious immigration problem for yourself later, especially when you apply for post-study work.
